Dolphin 30i Choking on leaves

My Dolphin is overwhelmed by the sudden mass of leaves (windy here) and keeps getting jammed right in the debris inlet - mainly packed in the cloth flaps. It does not look like the flap can be removed. It seems to be working fine, but just gets too many leaves at once in the opening and plugs up - only about ¼ full in the basket. Does anyone have tips on tweaking the inlet or suggestions? My old Polaris 180 was able to still suck up the leaves, but I hate cleaning that sucker out.

Sooooo many leaves - my back is killing me trying to scoop them out.

I have the S200 at a rent house that gets what I thought was a lot of leaves, and it will fill the basket up. But, that is over a few days work... It sounds like you get a much heaver dose of leaves than I do.

At my house I scoop the leaves out the best I can and then run the robot...

If I were in your shoes, I'd contact Marina Pool and Spa and see if they have the cloth flap.. (They Sell parts).. If they do, then you have to be able to replace it.. I would then remove the flap and see if that helps this time of the year..

Good idea - maybe they can sell the bottom plate and I can swap that out as needed. Just today I have about a bag or two of leaves in the pool from the wind this AM. They are smallish too - just too much dense volume of them at once to make in the basket.

My father taught me to always use the right tool for the right job...

If you have algae, any pool cleaner is not the right tool.. Algae is a chemical issue..

Hey Jim, no thankfully since getting on board with TFP, I haven't had any algae problems. I was just looking to see if the newest robots did an adequate enough job with brushing to enable me to reduce or eliminate manual brushing. I already use a CC Plus, but it only uses its rollers for movement and not for any kind of brushing action. The newer ones apparently spin the brushes at a different speed than the treads.

I could be wrong but I don't believe any of the currently offered robots have the "elbow grease" to
sufficiently scrub off all bio-film and algae during a slam.
