Should I keep the pecan tree

I am signing onto this forum due to our lovely in ground pool, beautiful pecan tree only 7 feet from our cool concrete decking, and squirrels.
The question is should you keep the pecan tree or not. Looking at the picture posted the tree is small. Problem with trees they grow. We moved into our home in 2006 because of the pool. The pecan tree was smaller 13 years ago so it was nice shade, etc. The pecan tree is much larger now and shades our pool most of the day.
Due to the squirrels eating the pecans over the pool, dropping what they cannot eat, our pools chemistry is off and our pool guy is having a hard time correcting it. He has been working on it for 3 weeks. Our pool sweep fills with pecans in less then hour.
If building a pool make sure that you know when to cut the tree down.
We have not have had any issue yet of tree roots causing the pool decking to crack but I hope to have my tree hugging husband convinced to cut it down sooner then later.

I would cut it down, it's not worth the headache. The bigger that tree gets the more expensive it is going to be to get removed, and add even more money to that if they have to work around a pool.

Just an FYI, Texas Pecan has value, if large enough it can be cut and milled into slabs, if not it makes great BBQ wood.

Did you keep the tree ultimately? Do branches hang over the pool? How is maintenance? Do you think you made a good decision? Thanks for your help, because I am considering the same decision - but my pecan tree would be only 5 ft from the pool!
