Still slamming a friends pool

My friend's pool got green after their pump failed. We have been slamming for a week. CC shows zero . They did use an oxidizing shock in it last week before I touched it. The first few days she was keeping the bleach to it because she didn't have a test kit. She's got a test kit now and has been keeping it topped off. I know they are doubting me and this method but are afraid to say so. She keeps saying that she thinks it is the TA and pH making it still cloudy. Any suggestions? Last set of testing had pH and TA off the charts. TA was so high I just quit putting my regent in.

A full set of test results and a picture of the water would be very helpful. Best if your friend would join the forum.

So - there are recommended levels of TA, and a minimum amount is recommended to keep some pH stability, but from everything I've read, you don't really need to worry about TA otherwise. It's mostly just something you need to know so that the calculations for how much of a chemical to add to change your pH can be accurate. The pH will rise quicker if TA is high, but to counteract that you add acid - which will also lower the TA a bit in addition to reducing the pH. So it will come down over time. Keep an eye on it so you know how much acid to add, but otherwise reduce the pH and don't worry about trying to reduce the TA.

I have never heard of TA making a pool cloudy, but maybe others can help. What equipment do they have? Is the water now blue instead of green?

TA itself will not make a pool cloudy. Adding calcium chloride or baking soda when the TA and pH are high can make the pool cloudy, for a short period of time.

Any chance of the pool overall? Those pictures are really hard to see anything but shadows.
