SLAM going on FOREVER

Keep at it, I know you can do it! You are currently at the phase of your SLAM that calls for a lot of POP (Pool Owner Patience). If there are still more crawdads or other organics at the bottom of the pool, that can certainly cause the progress to slow down. Cartridge filters are pretty good at clearing out the particulates. If you keep following the SLAM process and taking pictures looking down the stairs, you should continue to see progress every day.
 
Still very little progress. Cleaned the filter last night, there was some particulate but not horrible. FC was 23, so added 1 gallon @ 12.5% to get to 29. This morning, FC was 25, so added another gallon before work. I'm not giving up, but frustrating since this has taken so long.
 
I am guessing that the blue cord is a robot cord, you should put that in your signature. Make sure you have the pleated filters in and keep that guy running too. It will help.

More slow progress today, I can see the third step. Getting more consistent FC burn off every day (which at least makes me feel like I'm making progress). I'm cleaning my cartridge filter every day -- its not a problem to clean it too much, is it? Running my robot two or three cycles per day. Seem to have eliminated all crawdads, still getting worms every third or fourth cycle. Almost no dirt or other organic material.

Most cartridge filters work reasonably well in clearing a pool. That one is quite small -- are you cleaning it when the pressure rises by 25% over clean pressure?

Not sure if you saw my questions above -- I have two for you:
(1) Is it a problem to clean my cartridge filter too often? I'm doing it every day, and well before there has been a 25% increase in pressure in the system.
(2) What size pump/filter should I have for my system? I'm worried based on you comment that I'm undersized.
 
Cleaning the cartridge is fine every day. Just a lot of work.

Rule of thumb is 100sf of cartridge filter fro each 10000 gallons. Your 175SF filter is under that. And to be honest, the bigger the cartridge filter, the better, as you do not have to clean it so often. If I had your pool, it would have at least a 400SF cartridge filter because I would only wish to clean it at most twice a year!

Your pump should be OK, but you do not show the motor hp rating.

OK I'll check that motor HP later today. Thanks for the advice on the filter -- I'm considering getting a new as this one is 7 seasons old and constantly seems to be an issue for me.

My pump is a dual speed 1.5HP/0.19HP.
