Yes, you can use the less accurate 5 cc sample size with one scoop of powder. One drop of 0871 = 1 ppm FC roughly.
I use 10 cc for my routine testing.

Oops I did it with 2 scoops of powder and 5ml. Are my results going to be very inaccurate? I used 2 level scoops.Yes, you can use the less accurate 5 cc sample size with one scoop of powder. One drop of 0871 = 1 ppm FC roughly.

You cannot use too much powder. Just use a single scoop when testing with either 5 ml or 10 ml of water. Are my results going to be very inaccurate? I used 2 level scoops.
You can safely swim in a pool as long as the FC is above the minimum and at or below SLAM level based on your CYA. You must also be able to see the bottom of the pool in the deep end of the pool. One more thing... I'm worried about how long it is going to take to reduce the FC to swimmable level.
I was just worried about that being so high. I will add another gallon or 2. Thanks. If your CYA is 80 your SLAM level FC is 31 ppm.
Good info! I feel like I'm using a lot of everything right now. Thanks. One heaping scoop is enough, any more and you'll spin thru your powder faster than necessary.

So if it is dipping down to 19 during the day while I am working, that's a problem?Unless you follow the SLAM Process process, your water will never clear.
I added the DE and it increased pressure from 17 to 18. After an hour or so it was near 24, so I backwashed and added DE again, putting it back around 18. Now it is up to 23 again. Do I continue this same process? Thanks!Sand filters are the slowest to clear. If you add DE to your filter, make sure you watch the pressure very closely because it can climb quite rapidly.
