Current test results:
FC: 4.5 (I lost about 6ppm today)
CC: 0.5 and holding
PH: 7.5 and creeping up.
I added a gallon of 10%, which should bump me a bit over SLAM level of 12 for CYA/30. I'll test it again in an hour or so. PSI on the filter seems steady. I'm tempted to add a little MA to push the PH back down to 7.2 or so. 0.3 gain in a day seems a bit much, unless either the chlorine or the CYA is adding to it. The FC wasn't so high that it should have impacted the PH test, though.
Edit: Almost forgot the pics! The current situation (there are steps under there...) and my war chest.

As long as you test your pH when FC under 10 ppm you can add MA. Be sure to have a current TA for PoolMath.

It sounds stupid, but the water seems thicker. My pump isn't running at a fast RPM, but it is running constantly. The surface doesn't ripple like it has, and I was concerned I wasn't getting any outlet. But I paused and restarted it, which kicks it onto high for 2 minutes, and the flow is working fine. Very strange.

Not really. The spa is closer, since it's a semi-enclosed environment, but the main pool is a deep green. At least it was when I did my test two hours ago. I don't have great lighting out there, and it was tough to say with my cell phone. I'll take a picture first thing tomorrow along with a morning set of tests.

When you begin killing algae in mass, the dead carcasses will make the water 'thick' as you say. Because they disperse easily. You should see a significant change from green to that grey blue within 24 hours of really keeping your FC at SLAM level.

I wouldn't mess with PH/TA or MA additions during SLAM Process
Topped off the chlorine and finally pulled the Dolphin. There was some significant sludge in there.
Still no grey/blue color, but it does appear to be eating some chlorine.

CYA is still dissolving. Gave the sock another squish. Checked the filter PSI - seems good. Not a lot in the skimmer sock. Some debris in the pump filter basket, which I cleaned out. Added another gallon of chlorine to bring it up over 12, and gave the whole pool a good brushing.
SLAM has "officially" started, so I'll run hourly tests, or less depending on how stable the chlorine is. At least 2 more tonight, tho.

Odd that the FC went up. I wonder if the chlorine is floating for some reason? I upped the RPM on my pool pump to mix it a bit quicker.

Curious... If you bump your FC to 15, do the CC's stay down? Wondering if that is the edge to beat those?
