Saving Pool Math

Okay, I’m confused. All of a sudden, within the past month, entries in Pool Math are not being saved. I’m using an iPad and not my Mac. Looking at past posts this appeared to be a subject mid 2018, but I had no problem until recently. Nothing is being saved not even pool size, type of chlorination, or liquid bleach percentage. Am I doing something wrong?

Guess I’m not familiar with the desktop version. I’ve always used my iPad for Pool Math due to its convenience. I just take it out to the pool while doing my testing. If I didn’t clear the screen when I finished I would probably be okay, but I never had to worry in the past. The information was always saved and reappeared when I opened the app.

I want reword Lee's question to make absolutely sure he is investigating the right program:

Are you using the Pool Math that you get to in a web browser, the one you can get to by clicking the "PoolMath" tab at the top of this page? Or the app that you downloaded and have an icon that says "Pool Math" that you click?

All I can relate is that it is a TFP app that I saved to my favorites well over a year ago. Actually, it is probably not an “app”, it’s just the Pool Math chart that I saved. It all worked fine until recently. I do see the Pool Math app in iTunes. Is this what I should be using? I just reiterate that what I was doing was working fine until 2-3 weeks ago when information was no longer being saved.

Reed did you clear your cookies or did you "clean up" your computer or whatever you used for the pool math program? When I do that it does clear the info out of the fields. Like you I have seen my computer "hold" my info from one use to the next.

You’re dealing with an almost computer illiterate here. I always cleared the Pool Math tab when I was finished, but when I would go back and re-open the next time all of the readings were there just as I left them.

An observation to Leebo - Reed has PoolMath bookmarked. A server change was done recently. And there have been some changes to PoolMath. My guess is the bookmark is stale and something between his bookmark, cache, and cookies is out of synch.

I suggest Reed delete the PoolMath bookmark, go to PoolMath from the website, and recreate the bookmark. See if that makes things work properly.

Next step would be to clear the cache and cookies and see if that fixes things for him.

I deleted my Pool Math bookmark. Bookmarked again from TFP site. “Put in new information. Cleared my iPad and went back to bookmark and was back to square one. New information gone.

Describe what “Cleared my iPad” means. I do not know what that is.

I would suspect cookies have been cleared or, more likely, blocked. I count 8 cookies in Firefox from troublefreepool.com.

On the iPad, go to Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security. Make sure the "Block all cookies" is not enabled.

I would venture to guess you "closed" the bookmarked PoolMath webpage on your iPad. In the past I wonder if you didn't just minimize/move on to another page or something which left the webpaged PoolMath basically up and running in the background. If that is the case it was never really properly closed until you did that *double click* on the home button to actually *close down* hidden but active pages.

Do you have an iPhone? I use the PoolMath app I bought from the Apple store for my pool calcs. Its the same but an actual app instead of just working off the webpage here on TFP. Worth the $7 to me as it saves logs and is very handy. Perhaps you can put that on your iPad instead of bookmarking the webpage???

What I did after viewing the Pool Math screen on my iPad was to press the double boxes in the upper right corner to reduce Pool Math and then hit the x in the left upper corner to delete it.

I now understand what you did. An iPad tip - you have an X next to the name on the active tab. Touch that X and it closes the tab. Does the same in one step as you do in two. I just tried closing my PoolMath tab and reopening it and everything was remembered.

As someone else suggested, check your Privacy & Security settings in SETTINGS - SAFARI

Is the top bar on Safari with the two squares on the right and your tabs white or black?

Version 12.1.1 (16C50). Privacy settings set to not block cookies. If you hold finger on boxes you can close all open tabs at once.
