Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

That looks great...! Kids loving it by the looks of it.

Good thing it was never hard plumbed in... Easy to remove and conceal the mounts when the kids get older and possibly grow out of it.

They are!

Exactly re the plumbing. 8 small holes that we can fill with matching Jasmine grout when we remove it. Chuck some outdoor furniture over the area and you would never know it was there.

Those smiles are not an eyesore though!!!!

No they are not! Three hours today. Non stop sliding lol. By the time they got out it was too late to go and buy the hose connections I was hoping to get for the slide today. My eldest was also given a waterproof Bluetooth speaker for his birthday last from a family friend we visited yesterday. This this is amazing! You can hang it or place it anywhere around the pool and it also comes with its own little swim ring so you can have it IN the pool with you... which of course they did! The quality is amazing and volume can go as high as you would ever realistically need. It’s called a UE2Roll 2 if anyone is interested.

Interested! My son got a JBL Flip last Christmas and LOVES it but of course I'm certain if left to his own devices something terrible will happen to it around the pool. So this is awesome to know.

That is a neat little speaker! Thanks for sharing! Do you have the hose running as the boys play in the pool to try to keep up with the water lose?

3 hours of sliding???????? OH yeah! Bet the eat then dropped into bed sound asleep!

Still asleep and of course I’m going to have to wake them up for school [emoji31] I see Friday evening sliding in their future [emoji23]

Disaster! Cannot find my speedstir magnet anywhere [emoji31] I am so careful with it and was sure it went back into the kit once it was dry. Tried testing by hand but it’s so frustrating as I know my fc is around 6-7 but swirling by hand gives me 11. Thankfully CCL have a generic magnet for use with the Taylor speedstir. Ordered 3 lol. It’s a public holiday today here so hopefully they ship tomorrow.

On another note pb came out yesterday to place the new grate over the channel drain. Of course it couldn’t be completed [emoji31] The very end section of drain isn’t concrete in properly so that will have to be done first. I’m so glad we chose to replace the standard black plastic cover as the drain was full of render debris. Thankfully we have had no rain to speak of since it was uncovered or our drains would have been clogged. Half a grocery bag I got out of there as he was working.

Had an issue last week with the hot water return being clogged with shale from the build. Couldn’t get it past the hole. Had to turn heat pump off for a couple of days until it was sorted. Too cold for me so I sent my eldest in and on advice from pb he pulled the return housing out to clear the blockage. Out popped four big chunks of shale. Hoping that’s it for debris in pipes. Wondering how long it takes for debris to make its way out? Maybe I should run the pump at high speed for a while to try and clear any remaining debris.

I know 1 day I will lose mine. I already ordered a bunch. You can find them on Amazon and ebay

Good work ordering extras. It crossed my mind but I never ordered. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any on amazon AU or our eBay. The US sites won’t ship them to Australia. I was close to ordering a new speed stir which would have taken 1-2 weeks to arrive then recalled seeing the magnets on the CCL website.

There have been some builds where they find chunks of stuff a year or so after the build. Over time the water flowing past it works it loose. I like your idea of running the pump on high for a little while but think it will happen over time as well.

A plastic bag??????? So sloppy :(

Yup a plastic bag [emoji34]

Good to know it can take some time to work it’s way out. I guess it will take as long as it takes.

Had you not been using your heat pump over the last couple of months? If so, I'm surprised it took THAT long for those rocks to travel through the pipe! But glad you (read your son) was able to pull them out. Kind of makes you scratch your head and wonder how the heck they got in there in the first place!

Although, the last time I cleaned out my pump basket I was still finding plaster chunks and it always made me wonder where they came from??? Always hoping I'm not going to find a chunk missing from the pool somewhere!

We had been using the heat pump [emoji15] Occasionally jeff would pick up little bits of shale that in must have come out of one of the returns. The funny thing is that this whole time if was outside and the pool cover was on there was a clicking noise that came from under the cover. I realised it was from the heat pump return but assumed as it was operating that it was just the sound of the water moving under the cover from the return. Noise was gone once those big chunks were removed so it must have been the sound of the flow being restricted. I occasionally find little pieces of shale in my pump basket too. They must be in the pipes going from the pool. It was a obviously as messy build.

My current problem is I can’t get my pump lid off! At all. Ever. I’ve had to ask pb to come out in the past to remove it it for me. He says he’s not over tightening but for the life of me I can’t get the thing off. Even had a friends muscular hubby try on the weekend. Nope. I had lube ready to go when I get it off. I’ve bought two different tools and neither fit. YouTubed. My friend says I need to release the pressure in the filter first but she has a canister filter and I don’t see anywhere to do that on my sand filter or in the instructions. Costas - help please!

Need to add calcium and CYA to the pool. Finally my CYA has dropped from the original 80 (handover guy read 90) in mid May to 60 tonight. Calcium is sitting tight at 225 but want to get it to to 300 to start with and TA is dropping. A bit nervous about adding these chemicals as I don’t want to overdo them. Will go gradually and double check my pool maths.

Anyone with the ccl test kit using a speed stir. I highly recommend using the ccl magnet with the kit. It spins so much better in the ccl vile than the speed stir magnet. I was often using the speed stir vile rather than ccl as the magnet was just that little bit too big. The loss of my original magnet has proven to be a good thing.

So what is the PB doing that muscle man did not?????? Hummmmmmmmmmmm I have looked for your filter but cannot find the parts blow up. Can you find and share it? We have to find a way for you to get that top off. I know you do not want to call the PB :( We can/will figure it out. If nothing else post the pics you have of your filter so we can see what is what. I do agree with clearing the air lock.
