I was putting 2 gallons a day two weeks ago fighting algae green and yellow.
one month with an unusable pool and nearly $120 in bleach.
Then I found this! So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How
Did this four days ago and green and mustard is almost totally gone and I am now only adding half a gallon every 12 hours to hold my FC at 9-12PPM and the pool is blue!
I'm not saying anything but a month of fighting green and mustard algae then reading the above link, which is this site BTW, and it is all clear.
Might help you as a side effect is reduce chlorine usage.
Sounds like reddragon was not properly following the SLAM Process process.
Adding borates is not the solution.
And nowhere in that article should it state that you can use less chlorine. The FC must be maintained above the minimum for your cya at all times.
A clean pool will require 2 to 4 PPM of FC added daily. You have to find the most economical way for you to add that.
