So my laptop is on its last legs. Thinking of getting an iPad instead of another MacBook. Any thoughts?

It really matters what you find yourself mostly doing. For me there’s time when a phone is perfect, times when a tablet works the best, times a laptop wins, heck......I even still find myself at a desktop from time to time.

Take a hard look at what you do before doing anything is the main thing I’d suggest.

I have a much easier time typing on my desktop. I have a bluetooth connected keyboard for my Ipad, but it is smaller than a standard keyboard, so I make more mistakes, and sometimes the signal drops or lags and I have to wait for it to catch up. I love my Ipad, but its just not a replacement for a full range computer for my purposes. Of course YMMV.

If you can only buy one, then buy a laptop. The only one that thinks an iPad is a viable laptop replacement is Apple. (And I am 100% Apple and have been since the Classic.)

You look at things with an iPad. You create things with a computer.

Still have my G4 power book (I think that’s what it’s called). 2003 vintage lol. Funny thing is it still runs well and is still smaller and lighter than most current pc laptops on the market. Problem with me is that I struggle to navigate a pc.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Considering I have a new Mac desktop to turn to if this laptop fails Im going to give the iPad Pro a shot. There are lots of things that I like about it and I get tired of lugging this laptop around. Considering I don't really type anything (I peck) and my biggest task is this forum. I did consider the bigger iPad 12.9" but the 10.5" seems to be the sweet spot for how I plan to use it. Apple gave me a nice little discount (veteran and student). To top it off they agreed to a 30 return vs a 15 day!

Device will be here tomorrow so I will update in 2-3 weeks...cheers!

At least 90% of that # of the posts i have counted over there <------------ have come from a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. It is my second one. The last one went for a swim. Hard to blame it since it was a TFP pool!!! LOL!!! :-D

I think you made the right choice. I have a desktop to do more serious and intensive work. A tablet for everything else.
