WEll i thought they where a great product but my H1001D propane heater has been nothing but trouble. Won,t lite now. I just spent 3 hrs tearing burner and all apart, blew everything out with air. Unit looks like new, but won,t ignite. I hear it clicking and took out igniter, i see a faint spark jumping across so i guess its ok. I have a 1000 lb tank and a regulator coming right off it into 5/8 coper line to another regulator and then into heater. The pressure i am recieving after second regulator is not much at all compared to right off the main tank . I am worried its not enough propane. Reading jump across TH gas valve TERMINALS with jumper, ok im lost.Without power going to it hows that supposed to work??? help frustrated in WV

I can understand your frustration. If you do not have the proper gas flow, it will cause problems. Do you have a manometer to read the pressures? Have you verified that you have gas flow to the heaters gas valve?

Original post states he has 2 regulators. If he can get it to light with a bbq lighter ( the auto light may not have enough for low furl pressure) he can then see the condition, height, color of flame. May have to remove 1 regulator as they may be fighting each other. With 2 regulators it may be tripping 1 thinking their is a leak

You can't just start removing regulators. This needs to be checked by a qualified gas contractor.

Running 2 regs is just as dangerous. Their is a reason why things don't come with 2. So obviously a non ticketed person has already been messing with this.
There can be a first stage regulator at the propane tank and a second stage regulator near the appliance.

The first stage takes tank pressure and converts it to line pressure. The second stage regulator takes line pressure and converts it to appliance input pressure.

You can do single stage, but it requires a bigger gas pipe from the tank to the heater.

Using a two stage setup, you can run a smaller line from the tank to a regulator near the heater and then into the heater.

Where do you come up with that? In a propane system this is the norm to have two regulators.

When I suggest to people to try a BBQ lighter, I usually suggest it for a RayPak. This particular system that the OP has, you can't try the BBQ lighter to light it.

To properly check gas pressure you need a manometer.

My heater has electronic ignition, It is working. Electrician, spent about 2 hrs today trying to figure it out with no luck. On my gas valve there is a double white wire and a single purple. 118 volts on wires for 10 seconds then quits. All parts seem to be operating correctly. No smell of propane what so ever. Its like valve it stuck shut. Water pressure valve working, thermostat working, all solenoids working correctly. Small red lite on panel comes on for a second then shuts off. NORMAL???

Local furnace spent a couple hrs on my unit today with no luck. I have a double white wire and purple wire on gas valve, showing 118 volts for 10 seconds then shutting off. Pressure valve working, solenoids checked ok, Thermostat is good. Small lite on panel board comes on for a second then shuts off, NORMAL??? I have propane down to gas valve. Far as it go,s.

Did they check the gas pressure?

What did they find out?

Are you sure that all valves are open?

The valve at the tank is on?

Is the tank full of gas?

The valve by the heater is on?

Is the gas valve "On"?

Is the blower coming on?

Maybe some pictures of everything would help.

So did they check the gas pressure at the regulator and then on the manifold side of the gas valve in the heater?

What has Hayward said about this? you need the Hayward rep and a good local propane rep...if the 2 of them cannot figure out the problem(s), then elevate it to Hayward corp.

basic questions;

1. when was this installed and who installed it?
2. how long has the propane line and tank been installed? do you have other appliances running off this propane tank? if so, are they operating correctly?
3. was the orig installer certified and if so, what's their warranty?
4. was this ever working from the beginning? if so, how long? If not, got back to (2).
5. if you installed yourself and not certified, then...
