one of the other forums i visit had this post
it is an extension for your web browser that converts photbucket pictures automaticaly
i have downloaded it for chrome and it works flawlessly

I know the one for Chrome works as I installed it and went through a few threads that the photos were pulled, haven't tested Opera or Firefox but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Makes life a lot easier than doing the "~original" fix.

Opera:
Photobucket Hotlink Fix extension - Opera add-ons

Chrome:
Photobucket Hotlink Fix - Chrome Web Store

Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/

Figured would be worth sharing for others that may not have come across it yet.

Photobucket started charging $399 a YEAR  for offsite pic viewing a while back. The "fix" they posted above "fixes" it so you can see any pics from threads past that have been blocked by photobucket.

IF you are TFP supporter you can and should use TFP Photo Gallery for your pics. That is one of the bennies of being a supporter!

FYI I just downloaded the extension for Firefox and I was able to see all the pics posted on another forum which I had used photobucket.

photobucket has relented and released people's accounts from prison. they are allowing third party hosting again for a while and are offering a much more reasonable fee structure.

from their FB page -

Your photos have been set free!
Photobucket has a new management team with a renewed commitment to providing the best, most cost-effective service to our customers. As of today, your photos are live and we have a new, affordable pricing structure for hosting services. Learn more here: Welcome to the New Photobucket! Photobucket Support

Photobucket has new management, and we are liberating your images!
As of today, your hosted images are live.

Photobucket has a new management team that wants to do the right thing. We are committed to earning back your trust and offering comprehensive and flexible image storage and hosting options for our customers. We’ve taken your feedback and made some changes to our pricing model that allows us to offer competitively priced plans that fit the needs of all of our customers.

For a limited time, our current customers’ hosted images have been restored and Photobucket is introducing a new pricing plan that is built around everyone’s needs.

In an effort to improve our customers’ experience, we’ve also moved away from an advertising-based model and have eliminated a portion of ads from the site.

Photobucket pioneered the image sharing and hosting market 15 years ago, and our new management team is committed to returning Photobucket to the premier imaging service people had come to know and trust.

There are more positive changes on the way, but for now we are excited to share this new compelling subscription option, as a testament to our dedication to you, our valued customers.

and it seems they have indeed instituted new, more reasonable plans - Welcome, Please Choose Your Plan

comments at the FB page are still mostly angry. man they did mess up, but if they have released images I guess that is cool. probably when you verify email they will be contacting to pay and if you don't I suspect they will be blocking them again. will be watching to see what happens.

Doesn’t matter. Months before they decided to commit brand suicide with their myopic focus on paid hosting, they lost several gigabytes of my image data to some kind of “random error” that they could not plausibly explain. Over a thousand images were gone with no backup or mirrored data available. After weeks of emailing back & forth, they admitted they couldn’t fix anything and offered me a one year free premium subscription. I cancelled and closed my account as it was clear they were a completely unreliable and irresponsible company. Then they went on the war path after free users linking images.

They will never see me as a customer again and I honestly don’t trust them from a technological standpoint to safeguard people’s data.

I had a friend who was very funny and creative. He was ill for a few years before he died and his main social contact and creative outlet was creating funny comic posts on a discussion forum. He left a legacy of posts that almost all contained an image he stored on FB. I have mixed feelings about their behavior but am glad at least to see his postings back functional for the time being.
