Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

@Will - That's wild, I get a couple more hours of evening sun than you, however, your pool is much darker than mine, still think it might be calibration, but then you said it "feels cold" too so maybe not. I started at 81 this a.m. and when I turned on the solar at noon I was at 85. Wouldn't normally have turned it on but I have guests coming in town tonight that don't like cold water so it looks like I'm spending a couple days at 90 :(

Let me know if you want to take me up on coming by with my Thermapen and seeing if your off and help you calibrate it.

Larry I will definitely be taking you up on that, going to Cali again but I will call you when I get back. I appreciate all the help you have given.
My pool got up to 84 today so I'm climbing very slowly lol. And yes my pool is very chilly to the touch

I can't imagine living somewhere that 84 degrees feels chilly

Hey Big Will I have been out of pocket fixing a few things and entertaining company. How are things with the SWG? I hope Larry figures out something on your pool temps...

I'm still working on fine tuning the SWG, last time I checked it was holding the FC at 4 and that's when I check it after the sun goes down. I would guess that it probably gets up to 6ppm FC in the morning by the time the pump shuts off and I lose 1-2ppm during the day. Currently I run my pump from 12am-8am at 1500 rpm.
I'm out of town this weekend but I will run lots of different test when I get back. I did take some advice from pooldv that I read before I left. I poured bleach in the pool and took my FC level up and dropped my ph down close to 7 and I'm just gonna let my pool maintain itself. I'll check the numbers when I get back, plus if the FC is holding at the higher level I'll know my pump run times are good to maintain my FC levels which could be a double plus

Have you been running the pump at night all along? It doesn't make as big a difference as using fountains or your water features, but it doesn't warm things up, either, especially when every degree matters, right?!

Also, are the night temperatures dropping below the water temp?

Just curious...why don't you run your SWG and pump during the day?
I only start running it at night on a suggestion another member that it may make my pool warmer during the day.
Now I'm thinking that my SWG might be more effective running at night so it's not battling the sun burning the FC all day. So essentially all the FC will be replaced over night and be ready for the sun. Not sure if this will work but just a theory I want to test and makes sense in my head lol
Definitely. Will your chilling your pool with the nighttime running
I haven't noticed it really cooler or hotter by running pump during day or night. I'm sure if I run water features that will make more of a difference

My night temps are around 83-85 and pool is cooler than night temps at midnight when I run pumps. I think at midnight I'm between 80-83 degrees and it's still 90+ outside

So I finally found a way to enjoy the pool with these cold 83-85 degree temps.... also my pool finally got to 87 and felt really good and then..... it rained in the desert and dropped the pool to 80 :/
They told me this thing was oversized but maybe I'm just a little larger than normal lol

hey will! man i figured you were in the pool cause the water temp was the same as the spa. lol

enjoy man!
Man this has been painful for me, but 1 more week and my heater should be fixed fingers crossed.
Big Will I love the Dolphin/ Whale float:cheers: Those animals love cold water:D
I really like those floats as well and we stumbled across them on clearance at a grocery store for $5 each.
I was thinking maybe I need some blubber so I can tolerate this water lol
What a great view!
I tell my wife this daily when I'm laying around Hahahah jk.
I truly got lucky with where my home is and we are very blessed
Technically, he isn't touching the pool water in any pic. I'm not sure he's actually been in yet!
Hahaha true that! Even when my toes touch the water it sends chills in my body.
Maybe when the ambient temperature is closer to the water temp I can enjoy lol

oh man you still don't have the new heater. i'm sorry. it's been a bit now. what's up with that?

Haha you are so silly Will! You would have died in St John and St Maarten! We were there first week of May. Water temp was 78 with a pretty constant wind. 78 was CHILLY! But once you got in, you were ok as long as you stayed submerged.

Pool looks great and love the floats!
Thanks for the compliment and your right I won't even look at water that is not over 80-82 degrees. I even make my kids get water samples when it's cold lol
