New pool build decking and pool equip completed W/ pics

Re: Need Advice New Pool Construction Starting Tyler TX W/ pics

Howdy Neighbor
Nice looking pool build you're about to embark upon. Best of luck and good karma that it's as painless for you as a pool build can be.

After a couple months of debating, we finally put down a deposit to build a pool. Our PB touts using 3" suction lines but I'm not sure of the size of returns. PB touts heat bending lines instead of using sharp 90 and 45 degree angles.

Here's the det's

18X40 rectangle 3' to 7' deep
A&A in floor, wall, sundeck and bench cleaning system. (Whats the best size for returns using the in floor system?)
3HP Intelliflo XF for pool
3 HP Intelliflo for 4ft sheer decent and 2 lighted bubblers
Pentair 520 Cartridge
Dek Clor chlorinator
Easy Touch 8 automation
2- Venturi Skimmers
Debris removal main drain
Mastertemp High Performance Heater
Waterco MultiCyclone 16 Centrifugal Pre-Filter
2- 5G LED color pool lights
2- Pentair Colorvision globrite LED Bubblers in the sun deck
Over flow and auto fill
Finest Finish Radiant Fusion plaster with hand seeded abalone (Regal Blue or Topaz)
NPT VR-681 Tile
Silver mist Flagstone coping

Any thoughts for or against what I have selected please chime in if you've personally had experience with what I've chosen. I've never had a pool before so if there's something that you regretted not putting in your pool and I don't have it listed, please share that as well.

Thanks!

Wow! Your pool design looks identical to ours except we went with a sport pool (3.5' to 5' to 4.5') and ours is a little smaller at 15' x 35'. I'll definitely enjoy following your pool build. It's off to a great start so far.

We had golf ball size hail and .75" of rain. They came out today and dropped a pump in the deep end and pumped the water out and then removed the plastic. Pool stayed pretty dry!

I like the main drain you picked. That will help with the cleaning.

Thanks, It has a 3" suction line attached to the main drain. Its part of the infloor cleaning system. I debated on this feature quite a bit until I talked to a few people that have had them for a couple years here locally. If done properly and plumbed properly, they work very well.

Day 4: Steel and Bonding complete

Yes nice drain. All people should get a similar drain regardless of if they alphabet an in floor. A&A channel drain is one. No reason not too. Sorry for the sidetrack. Looking great!! And so exciting at that stage.

I checked out your build, beautiful pool! I noticed they had gravel on the floor of your pool. Is that something they should do on all pools, or is that something you guys do up north for certain situations?

Re: New pool build started Tyler TX W/ pics

PB said they don't do it on all builds. I suppose it would promote some increased drainage under the pool but is certainly not done on all builds I see here.

Do you have gunite day scheduled yet?

Re: New pool build started Tyler TX W/ pics

Did you nix the UV/ozone thing? You get *plenty* of free UV from the sun so why pay for it? LOL

The savings there could pay for the fancier automation :)

Yes! I dropped the ozone and went from the easy touch 4 to easy touch 8 :D

yes, Gunite tomorrow 5/9. Keep in mind we started less than a week ago. so in 6 days they dug, plumbed, steel, Bad storm, Inspection and gunite in 6 days! :kim:

They're making great progress on your pool! And glad to see the plastic kept the dig as dry as it did! Hopefully gunite soon and plaster shortly thereafter. Have you picked out your plaster yet?

We chose Finest Finish Radiant Fusion micro pebble Regal Blue. We'll have silver mist flagstone coping.

Re: New pool build started Tyler TX W/ pics

Yes that's good on timing. Ours was 7 days to gunite. It does make sense though, it's one of the few (or only) stages where the OB is at risk of damage occurring due to rain (causing cave-ins) which would cause expensive rework. Money motivates.

Congrats on making it this far - and this fast. Keep everything in perspective - you're now going to get concrete which is going to need some curing time. Mine seemed so fast and then it was agony - waited seemed like weeks. Little things would happen, deck work, electrician, lots of watering the shell for a week or two, etc. Enjoy, but be prepared, there will be a slower week or two or three more than likely.

Ya they said the gunite needs to cure at least 28 days. I just wanted the gunite to get done before the rain forecast on thursday. After the gunite the weather can do whatever and there won't problems. I'll have those few weeks to get the pool decking and yard back in shape and sprinklers adjusted. I hated watching my beautiful sod get ripped up
