Las Vegas Build - It's like butter

With a bicarb startup you maintain a +0.5 CSI for 3 weeks, then lower the TA to the recommended levels, the goal being to oversaturate the water with calcium carbonate in attempts to make a smoother, longer lasting and more durable finish. Fresh plaster (<28 days old) has not fully cured and is susceptible to the effects of aggressive water.

I recall you saying earlier that you were going to go with the bicarb startup for your pool. If thats still your intention then you'd only need to maintain a pH of 7.8 for the next couple weeks. Once that time has passed, you then can begin to lower the TA.

Okay , I got it... I'm a bit slow sometimes..

This Morning.. tests:

FC .5
CC .5
TC 1
CH 300
TA 180

PH 7.6
Temp 75

So I can aerate a bit to bring the PH up a bit.., or just leave it and see what it does on its own till this evening...

Should I be adding chlorine at this point to bring TC up to 3? (day 4)

Just leave it be. The FC is fine too. Add a couple more pucks to the floater

Looking good. How is the dust situation now?

Pretty much none :) A lot of it was and still is the coral dust.. from them cutting around the pool. 20-20 hindsight... I should have waited until the deck was done to plaster and fill.. But the price I pay for trying to squeeze in some pool use this season..lol

This morning tests:

FC .5
CC .5
TC 1
TA 180
PH 7.8
Temp 77
CSI .61

putting enough acid in to get to 7.6

Looking good!

How is the chlorine bouncing around so much? Are you doing the FAS-DPD or the OTO?

Don't know.. back to what its been, but maybe because I added a couple pucks?

I am using both tests and comparing against each other.. that high reading was odd, and the FAS-DPD actually showed higher.. I thought that was more accurate test?

The OTO tonight would have been TC of .5

Tonight's tests..

FC .5
CC .5
TC 1
TA 180
PH 7.6
Temp 78
CSI .39

At this point I have been running the pump continuously, should I continue? very little dust.. if any.. and any is really from the yard work.
