DFW Texas Pool & Spa Build (Round 2)

Do like I do....get multi quotes AND let them KNOW you are pricing it out! They will start bidding against each other. THEN check their references AND go see their work IF you are going to pay for it to be done.

I haven't, I guess I assumed they would know what to do? I'll discuss with my PB this week before they pour. Thanks for the heads up!

Double diagonal bars set adjacent to the corner spaced six inches apart can go a long way toward avoiding cracks emanating from an inside corner. bdavis has better graphics skills than I do. If you pm'd him your deck layout, I bet he'd help you to see where cracks are most likely to develop. This is one time where taking control of a situation can really pay off long term. Titan trusted his concrete guy with disastrous results. Concrete cracking cannot be eliminated, but it can be managed.

He's coming to come by tomorrow to discuss the control joints and did confirm there will be expansion joints as well.

Got first quote today, the yard looks so small but apparently there is 1933 sqft total & 9$ sqft adds up quick!

Decking just finished. PB said in 7-10 days they'll come back to do the coating. Was hoping they could do plaster before that but he said plaster was the last thing they do.

I envy your progress.. we're STILL waiting on plumbing, coping/stonework and electricity after digging just 2 days after you started.. I love our waterline tile.. I'm just sick and tired of looking at it as our only progress for the last 2.5 weeks...

Oh no! I know all the PB in our area are slammed. I feel lucky it's been moving a long smoothly so far. My neighbor built with another PB and started on the same day as me and they ran his electrical and his gas igniter in the same trench!!! So the city is really on them so he's got waterline tile as well and that's it. He's pretty upset.

But we will all be swimming soon enough! Do you plan on closing your pool in the winter or just maintaining it year round?

we're not having a heater since we're doing a standalone hot tub so the kids (8 and soon to be 6) might be lucky to have 4 weeks of swimming by the time we're done.. will definitely get some solar covers to help keep it warm into hopefully early October but I have my doubts.

Not a lot of action other than cleaning and grading the lot last week. Pending concrete to cure before they coat. Hopefully by the end of the week it's good to go. 2 weeks long enough? Also pending electrical and sprinkler hook up this week.

So I was bored and decided to put the dolly for the robot together. Wondering what we should name it? LoL

Well that is interesting.......they do not look like the same thing at all.......BUT if you look at paint samples you will see the same thing..........color on the strip in the store looks NOTHING like the color on the computer looks nothing like the color on your wall at home LOL

Stay with your first pick. You will drive yourself crazy if you start second guessing it now. It is a great color and you will love the water color with it!

Not a lot of action as of late. Finally got sprinklers rerouted and what not. Got a call today saying they want to clean and seal all the stone and then plaster this week. Then I pull up the weather and it looks like rain!! Hopefully it will pass over as Texas weather changes every hour. If we get plaster this week then spray deck will be next week. Crossing fingers!!

Stone was cleaned and sealed yesterday. It looks much darker, not a huge fan I liked it lighter but the PB says it will lighten over time. I've attached a pic it looks much darker than original. We're all set for plaster tomorrow so pray it doesn't rain!! Acid wash Saturday then we should be good to fill!

I like the look of the stone! Funny cuz my pool builder didn't offer to seal it, or even mention it, and now I'm going to have to do it. Your's did, and you'd rather he hadn't. :D Do you happen to know what product they used? Dig the tiles on the rounded spa edges. So sharp!

Thanks! Sorry if I came off ungrateful lol but I'm definitely happy they sealed it just didn't realize it would make it look much darker. Or maybe is was all the dust making it look lighter than it really was?

Unfortunately I wasn't home when they were cleaning and sealing so I can't confirm what they used.
