Thank you all :) I plan on sticking around and being a part of the TFP community! I also need to get on over to the donate piece so I can earn my badge and give back :)

QUESTION: when you are adding your daily bleach for maintaining normal FC levels.....what time of day are you doing that? Morning or evening.

Also, what happens if your FC drops to 0 during the day when people are in it? Is it no big deal as long as you are bringing it back up each day?

I just ask as I know my FC drops a lot in the sun. My CYA is 30.

I add my FC right before I brush my teeth at night (I have a note by my toothbrush that says "test and add FC hehe so I do not forget). In my eyes it give the FC a chance to kill anything without fighting the sun. BUT you need to find where it best fits you daily life. Some find after the first cup of coffee, some after dinner, etc. Think though your day and see where you would have about 5 mins to test and dose.

You should NEVER let the FC drop below the minimum for your CYA level.

If you are planning a party, before hand bump the FC up a few ppm (remember, safe to swim up to shock level FC).
If it is an all day affair, maybe have everyone out of the pool, do a quick check and add bleach as needed and they can get back in after only 15 minutes or so.
 
Yep, important to keep FC at target at all times, or higher for lots of swimming, pool parties, all weekend swimathons. I keep mine at 9-10 during big swim weekends so I can still test PH ( only good up to 10).
 
SLAM is finally over!! :)

It looks beautiful minus my white spot in the deep end that I can now finally capture on camera. It looks like some kind of build up. I cannot get you all a close up photo but it looks like a dry, brittle, cracking dessert.....only white and of course smaller than a dessert.

It does not come up with a leaf rake or brush so once the water is warmer, we will try to get up a sample.

Mine is clear though. I just have trees above. If I dropped a coin in the deep end, I could see it clearly and tell you heads or tales. My white patch at the bottom mixed with the fact that I have a ginormous pine tree hanging overhead and a house reflecting off the pool makes it hard to capture photos.
