First water test

So now and in the future I test ph, if is ok test for chlorine, make the adjustments and thats it.
One a week test for TA and CH, and every 3 months or so test for CYA.
Tomorrow arrives the FT 100 so im gona post from there.

Always test for pH and FC/CC at the same time and adjust as needed. No need to test and adjust one and then the other.

Ok so if the test said low chlorine and low ph I must add bleach and ph plus at the same time together?

You test everything first, one right after the other. And then, if anything needs adjusting, you adjust them one at a time, always allowing half an hour of circulation between chemicals to let things mix.

I dont have to add anything today right? Or I must target 5 with 2,4 oz?
1 for target makes difference?

It's up to you. If you only lose 1 overnight, then tomorrow you'd be at three, which is your minimum. Or would you be at 3? How accurate is that test kit? Hmmmm...

I have the FT 100. The results are:
PH 7,5
CL 2
TA 110
CH 40

Last night I didnt add chlorine, but now with 2 now, Im gonna target 5 in the PoolMath and test again tomorow with the CYA

Did you use the FAS-DPD Chlorine tester, the one with powder and drops? If so, we need the CC reading, too.

And have you been swimming yet, or just worrying about chemistry?

The FAS-DPD is more accurate?

Yes, the FAS-DPD is waaaaay more accurate. I'll almost guarantee that if you run the two tests using the same sample water, they'll disagree by at least 1. I can never tell the difference anywhere between 4 and 7 on the OTO, but the FAS-DPD never fails.

If that is before adding bleach, yes. If that's after you targeted 5, no.

Wow 2 FC with the oto and 3,5 FC with the Fas-dpd .I put 3.6oz of bleach based on 3.5fc . Im gona test again tomorrow right?

I wouldn't bother unless you suspect you have algae. Your chlorine losses haven't been extreme, so I doubt there's any problem.

It's up to you. Practice with the OTO. Stare at it a while. See how close you can get to what the FAS-DPD test says. If you can't do it, stay with FAS-DPD.
