Is there a risk I take if I unplug it and try to run it?

Hey guys. I have small spa attached to the pool. The drain has never worked. Just moved here last year and unsure if it worked before. I just took a look at there’s this plug. Is this supposed to be removed? Or is it supposed to be here? Sorry for the poor photo. Thanks!

Thanks. My CYA seemed to have dropped drastically. Used up the whole bottle and still see the black dot. Probably due to all the backwashing from the slam. I should add more stabilizer at this time?

How often should I check the CYA levels after slam?

So I have an attached spa that has a broken drain. The returns work. but the spa just continues to collect, I guess what’s dead algea. Any advice? or just keep brushing the spa and eventually it will clear there. Very very little dead algae still collects on the steps. Pool progress photo below

So after this is all stable and clear pool and slam is done, what’s my recommended chlorine PPM? Not 5 as I’ve read? Or I calculate that based on my CYA on pool math.

Great Ty for the advice. Something about doing it myself makes me feel more accomplished- I can’t imagine if pool company opened. They’d just throw in 10 gallons of chlorine on day one which would probably turn to 0 PPM after a few hours lol

Third day in a row passing the OCLT. still slamming bc pool is still cloudy. After it gets all clear. How do you maintain the chlorine if you don’t use tabs? You measure the FC every day and add liquid chlorine?

Is it normal that I only have to backwash for like 30 seconds for it to be clear? I read 2/3 mins but mine gets clear much quicker. Don’t want to run the 3 mins just to drain the water

Well I only have to backwash with the DE. Without it- didn’t need to at all

Day 2 of clearing overnight FC loss of under 1ppm. But the pool is still ridiculously cloudy. I have been doing some DE but that causes me to backwash every 45 minutes. Which in turn seems to bring my CYA down. Is it worth continuing the DE? Or it doesn’t actually do much in the long run except...

Hey guys. These are my two skimmer valves. I just wanna make sure that this “open/close” value is installed correctly because it seems like I cannot fully open both scammers at the same time. One has to be partially shut for the other to be wide open. Image below.

Idk if better for the pool- but lower CYA is better for you lol less CYA less chlorine. Mine ended up dropping from 40 to 30. Slam went from 16 to 12. Easier to manage.
