I'm the one who asked after having laprascopic abdominal surgery. My dr said it was ok if I covered my surgical wounds with waterproof bandages, and avoid anything strenuous, such as lap swimming. I tried the bandaids, and the pads on the stayed perfectly dry. But pulling them off was pure...
My first Intex pump had a timer that went bad. Slightly different symptoms, but it was definitely the timer. It quit working on 4 hours, then 6, then 8, then 12, and eventually all together. It would work (24 hours a day), but not on the timer.
This is us too. Except we need the 5 gallon bucket filter to help get the oxidized iron out.
We get our top off water from mother nature. Were lucky to have only needed a top off once or twice in 3 years. Today might be our third time. I have a house prefilter, but it's pretty much...
Re: Filling pool with well water soon - need advice
Another way to know if you have iron, is to check inside your house. Are your toilet tanks and shower rusty? Do your white clothes turn orange? Is your landscaping rusty from being watered by a sprinkler system?
If so, chlorine will...
So, having had surgery this past Monday, they told me to stay out of the pool for 4 weeks. Last year for another surgery, different Dr's/nurses said 4 weeks or 6 weeks.
One Dr told me it was fine after incisions were closed, but to use waterproof bandaid, and to just wade around (do nothing...
I will probably never get a sand filter. My pool is a 5000gal intex, and my fill water has high iron. We filtered out the oxidized iron, and haven't had any more issues. I don't want to backwash, then top off with metal filled water. I like my cartridge filter, because I don't have to back...
The iron filter works once the chlorine interacts with the iron. This type of filter works great on oxidized iron.
Like the person above indicated, this will not work with plain tap water, as the iron hasn't oxidized yet.
It's a cheap inexpensive solution to make the 5 gallon bucket...
Re: Brand new Intex 16’ Ultra Frame
I have same setup. Ours originally came with the smaller intex cartridge filter. We added a Hayward skimmer and the intex swcg and didn't have any problems. The pump died the 2nd summer , so we got the larger intex cartridge filter. It works great too...
With your small pool (like mine), it should be easy (or not too difficult) to create a 5 gallon bucket filter to filter out the oxidized iron. We did that 2 years ago, and since mother nature keeps us topped off with rain water, we don't have to use a sequestrant. I highly recommend!
I have this one and love how easy my pool is to take care of.
My pH has been 7.4 since last July. Through hurricanes, tropical storms, and enough rain to probably totally replace my water at least once. I did have a little algae this year, under the seams of my liner. Other than that, no...
During the heavy pollen season, my filter goops up with stuff that looks like hard boiled egg yolk. I totally underestimated how bad it would clump up, and mine was similar to yours. It was gross, and oddly fascinating at the same time.....
If you are sure your fill water doesn't have iron, why not try to create a 5 gallon bucket filter, and filter the oxidized iron out? This worked for us, and since we stay topped off with iron free rainwater, we haven't had to deal with staining or use sequestrants. If we had to top off on...
If tour tf100 doesn't include the oh kit, then there must be an issue somewhere. How long ago did you buy it? It's supposed to.....
The tests included in the TF-100* are:
Chlorine Test (OTO) - Very dependable for detecting the presence of chlorine in your pool - normally used daily.* The...
You can also make a 5 gallon bucket filter. Just a larger version of using paper towels in the skimmer. Google it. Looks foolish, but works. I went from pea soup green to sparkling in 2 days. I don't use sequestrant because mother nature keeps my pool full. It's cheap, easy and gets the...
Everyone else is doing a great job, but I wanted to throw my 2 cents in here regarding the Pool $tore testing. From what I've seen, sometimes members will recommend taking in a water sample for testing, only for the metals portion of the teat. An example might be someone has staining, and...
We just sold a house. We didn't have a pool, but I'm familiar with the 'end of life' comments. I think they use general industry assumptions, like a gas water heater is typically good for X years, a shingle roof is good for X, years, etc. Our buyers report called out almost every thing...
I'm a bariatric patient, so I can't handle sugar or carbonation. I'm having to learn new drinking techniques! I used to drink Mai tais, coconut rum, spice rum, grenadine, pineapple and orange juice. Now, I'm experimenting with sugar free syrup and Trop 50. I can't tell the difference if...
My pool is much, much smaller than yours but we also have high iron and had a pea soup green mess of oxidized iron. We did a slam and used a 5gal bucket filter to filter out the oxidized iron. It worked great. we have only had to top off from the hose 1" (once) in 2 years. We tried a...
I upgraded from the internet 1500 gph to the 2500gph and it's a huge improvement. I have a 16'x48", with a skimmer and it stays clean, and I can vacuum (triangle shaped one on a pole) with no problem. Plus it all fit without adapters and was less than $100.
If it's airlocked, it will probably be much louder than normal, and you'll know pretty quick. Are you sure you have both valves open, to and from the pool?
Mine came with two little black hat looking plugs that fit inside the suction outlet.
I keep one closed and then the dual suction pulls from the other and the hayward skimmer. Sometimes I close the 2nd one too and use only the skimmer.
