Hayward Aqua Connect
The Aqua Connect Home Network (ACHN) is a communications gateway that connects Hayward Pro Logic, Aqua Plus, and Aqua Rite control systems to a home network and the internet. With this connection IOS and Android apps and web browsers can connect to the pool system.
The ACHN is compatible with all Pro Logic and Aqua Plus controls operating with software revision r4.20 or higher and Aqua Rite Pro controls operating with software revision r1.20 or higher.
The Aqua Connect base station connects directly to the home network's router using a Cat-5 cable and must never be installed outdoors or in a damp or wet environment. The Aqua Connect base station must be located at least 2 feet away if using a wireless router.
The Aqua Connect base station communicates to the pool controller using 480MHZ radio in the same way as Hayward other wireless remote controls. It translates commands from the Apps to look like a wireless controller to the pool controller. The base station must have a good solid radio connection with the pool controller. Each base station has a unique ID code that is associated with the pool controller though the "training" process.[1]
The Aqua Connect base station does not use WIFI. It connects to the home network using a Cat-5 internet cable and connects to the pool controller using Haywards proprietary 480MHZ radio link.
There are four lights on the base station:
- RF LED should be on all of the time and indicates communication between the base station and the pool controller
- Tx LED should be blinking
- Rx LED should be on most of the time
- LINK LED indicates communication is established between the base station and Haywards cloud server. This is different then the LINK light you find on a Cat-5 port. The LINK LED should be blinking on at least once a minute, usually 4 times per minute.
The Installation Manual describes how to create an account on the Hayward server and setup web client functionality.[2]
AquaConnect Troubleshooting Guide Residential is a good place to begin troubleshooting.
No LINK LED Light
One member found that the Aqua Connect base station does not connect to the Hayward cloud servers when DNS is set to 1.1.1.1. When his default ISP DNS was used the box connected fine and LINK was lit.[3]
AquaConnect Displays null in App
Some members have had the menu entries on the AquaConnect app display as "null", The fix took contacting Hayward Support, give them the mac address of the Aquaconnect and user name and password, and they fixed it on their end.[4]
If you have problems with Hayward Support on the telephone try messageing them on Facebook or email customerappsupport AT hayward.com.[5] .
