Yes, he likes the pith helmet for when he's very hot, mowing etc. It is not like the one you linked.. his has a bit of texture to it, not unlike grasscloth? More like this one- Sun Safari Pith Helmet / White / High Quality at Amazon Men’s Clothing store: Hats

Ha! Gotcha. I saw that one too. Thanks for Skippy's testimonial. There is a hat for every reason and season. I'll probably buy one of those two and report back this summer.

That looks a good hat! I have a fishing type hat that I absolutely LOVE to wear when I am out in the yard. It does a good job of shielding the sun and isn't too "heavy"...plus, I get to look like Detective Provenza from "Major Crimes"

So, I didn’t get one last year but this was the year for a pith helmet. I am quite impressed with it for the cost. It’s not plastic, nor the grass reed like of Skippy’s, which would have been my second choice, but a polyester/cotton blend thin material over a composite shell. Very lightweight for the size. It doesn’t blow off like my soft safari style hat. And with it being hard, it keeps the bumps down from branches and such when mowing the lawn or trimming branches.

I like that the interior which touches your head is suspended from the cap itself. So there is some airflow. The inner band does touch the cap at the front for me. So it transfers sweat to the interior cap surface cloth. But since it’s got a composite structure, the sweat doesn’t show on the outside. Which is nice because you aren’t left with salt ring stains.

Solid A- for now.
