When i moved to my new house, my initial estimation for the gallons only pool was around 30k. But i realized that when adding product to the pool, like CYA or soda hash, etc... The result was often higher than what I should have had. Same for chlorine.
By considering the pool at 16k, i was able to add the right chlorine to get the right results in my tests. And for few years, i had almost no problem following what I have learned here.
As I am replacing my liner, i asked the exact size of my pool and it is 33k.

How can I explain that for the last 4 years my estimating of 16k allowed me to have a perfectly balanced water based on tests ?

What makes you think the liner company calculation of gallons is any better than pool store testing? Customers thinking they have a larger pool feel better about the price.

Trust the chemistry.

What are the dimensions of your pool?

It's a kidney shape, 8 feet deep, probably 35 feet length and around 20 wide.

Run your pool dimensions through here for an oblong pool...
