Winterizing Infinity Water Basin

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to winterize the water basin for an infinity pool. The basin is 3'X40' and runs along the infinity edge of the pool, it has 2'-3' of water in it and it has 2- 2" drains in it to pump water back into the pool for surge effect. I am wondering if draining it and blowing out the 2" lines is the best way to do it, the problem with that is over the winter snow and rain will get in there and freeze. It is a salt pool as well so if it freezes it probably won't freeze all the way down, maybe 1-6" of ice will form on top (that's my guess). Any ideas would be great.

How are you winterizing the pool?

You putting a cover on the pool?

I think you need a solid cover for the basin to keep water out.

Basin does not have a cover, I could put one on it if I need to. Winterizing the pool I am using a cyclone to blow all the lines, pulling plugs on pumps, heater, etc. The skimmer is being blown out and the pipe is threaded into the skimmer and filled with 1-gallon marine/RV antifreeze, bottle is left in the skimmer to absorb as the pool freezes.

Basin, I am thinking of draining it all the way and plugging the drains on the bottom. that is what I am leaning towards, if I do that the basin will catch snow, and rain and will retain some water but as long as the drains are clear and water can't get into them I should be good. However, I am not the smartest person so I am open to suggestions.
