Long story short. Cover had a hole in it so we didn’t cover this winter because they couldn’t get us a cover made in time. Should I drain and refill or slam. I’m thinking slam but curious what yall think
How high is your CYA? That's the first issue to determine.
I suspect a good daily brushing while doing the SLAM process will work well for you. Take a picture in the same spot daily and post it here. Sometimes its easier to see improvement with pictures for comparison.

just turned everything on late yesterday afternoon, letting the pump run until this afternoon and been brushing the walls and running the alpha iq+ cleaner (have to clean out gunk about every hour) and will test water this afternoon and then start the slam accordingly is my plan
So got all the equipment turned on and let the pump run around 18 hours and also put the cleaner in . checked cya which was just over 30 so used the pool math app and added 16 gallons of 12.5 liquid chlorine at 2 pm Saturday . These have been the readings since adding the chlorine 7pm sat —fc 21 cc 2/ 8 am Sunday—fc 19 cc 1—12pm Sunday—fc 18 cc 1. Is it normal that I haven’t had to add any more chlorine ? I have been brushing the walls and running the cleaner on the floor ( having to empty about every hour )
I went by my cya readings as well as what the current fc was and put those numbers into the pool math app and that is what it told me to put in —what should I do since I added too much ? Should I just keep checking chlorine levels and brushing /running the cleaner at this point
Edit—just checked my numbers and it appears when I changed the cya number it didn’t stay so it stayed at 70 which is what I normally have it at during the summer so it gave me amount to add based on that.
