Will a new Polaris 3900 Sport work with existing return?

I am considering replacing an old Polaris 180 suction cleaner with a Polaris 3900 Sport (will use existing booster pump). The existing return opening is about 1 inch and is only a hole in the side of the pool so it has no threads in it and the old Polaris 180 connector/fitting apparently was just twisted into it. The Universal Wall Fitting for the Sport is supposed to be 1.5 inch. I don't know if that is the threaded end or the Quick Disconnect female end. Does anyone know? Thank you.

The UWF needs to screw into the threaded side of a 1.5" return.

The Polaris 180 uses the same 1.5” screw in UWF. See page 4 in https://www.polarispool.com/-/media/zodiac/global/downloads/tl/tl-2.pdf?force=1

So I dont know what you have and how it ever worked with a 180.

That looks like the same type of feed hose connected to it as used in the 3900.
