Why is my CC high?

3 weeks in using the TFP method and I haven't had any real big problems. TA and PH have been steady but today my combined chlorine was 1.5 when I tested it (I will reverify later). What could/would cause that and is the best way to get it down to just shock?

Hmm, weird I haven't had a high chlorine demand. I pulled the filters and they are clean and nothing in the skimmer basket.

My daughter and a friend used the tub and her friend and after they used it it was foamy like soap or lotions the next day. I shocked it for two days and it cleared up but I wonder if it somehow from that. I also had to add water as it was getting lower than I like.

Will shocking for longer get the CC down?

I had the cover off for 3-4 hours on Sunday when I was shocking it and it was cc of .5 but it was above 10ppm until Monday evening sometime...... Then it was covered through Wednesday we used it Wednesday evening for an hour and had it covered after other than the quick flip up for test water and adding bleach.

High CC in a covered spa tub can rapidly become an issue due to the low water volume and high bather load compared to a pool. Opening the cover after high chlorine additions will help as will reducing the waste load from body lotions and unclean swimwear. Rotating in a clean filter also helps but realize eventually replacing the water will be required. It is very important to use a good cleaning agent/surfactant prior to the drain that will properly clean your tub and plumbing of biofilms. These biofilms will harbor and protect bacteria that can accumulate deep in your system and negatively impact your sanitation program. Keeping a close eye on your water like your are doing is the most important thing. Happy soaking.
