Why is it recommended to have SWG on in daylight?

I have always wondered why most seem to recommend having the SWG on during the day time (in sun) if you can help it. Obviously tiered power prices play a role for some (myself included) but what is the reason that it is recommended to run in full sun?


Thank you in advance... I am a "but why?!?!" kind of guy. :)
 
I run my SWCG while the sun is on the pool because that is when the bulk of the FC is consumed. I can keep a more steady FC which I target at 10% of my CYA.

With tiered prices, you could run it at night. You would need to be sure your starting FC just before sun got on the pool was sufficient to counteract the FC loss during the day. So you would want to test your FC once the sun is off the pool and be sure your FC is at Target.
