Why can't I ask specific questions in a separate thread?

I started a thread to document my pool build a while back. Since then, I have had a few questions that we're very specific to some part of the build and I posted them as separate threads in order to give them specific context and make them possible to find in a search for anyone who ends up with the same question later. Every one of my questions has been moved into my original pool build thread with the admin saying they're all related. I understand the interest in keeping the forums clean and the threads properly organized, but nobody knows that I've asked a question about a pump or about tile based on a generic "New Pool Build in SoCal" title. Besides, every single post I ever make going to be related to my pool so I guess they all just end up getting moved to that one thread forever?

Update the title with ‘xxxxxxxx : now pump questions’. Or whatevs. The more people you attract as the thread lives on the better for you with more eyes following along. For future readers the continuity is HUGE to see all the phases in one place.

Rest assured the MODS read every last post, Usually each. At the very least you will have a few gurus for whatever the topic is reading it no matter what. Plus. There is always the Martybot. He’s like Chuck Norris. He doesn’t sleep, he waits.

It’s typical to keep a new forum users questions during a build within one thread, usually their build thread. Especially when those questions revolve around pool equipment choices or subjective design issues like tile or liner patterns, concrete versus kool deck, etc, etc. It makes the thread more complete and reduces the thread count. If every new user posted a different thread for every little detail about their pool build choices, the forum would become a mess and it would harder for Mods and Guides to do their jobs. We can’t go scouring the forum for every single thread you’ve posted to see what your choices & decisions were; having everything in one thread simplifies it.

Legit separate thread posts would be called for when you truly have a question that is unrelated to your build, like an advanced chemistry question or why levels are chosen the way they are.

I merged all your threads. They are concerning your New Pool Build. Keeping everything about the New Pool Build in one thread allows the members to understand what you are asking in context with the New Pool Build. They do not have to jump back and forth between threads to get what they need to answer your question.

Thank you for participating on the forum.
