Has anyone used a white waterline tile with a black bottom pool? I’m trying to decide if that would look really cool or not. We have it narrowed down to some sort of gray tile but then saw the white and it looked different. Will be choosing on of the black bottom signature matrix finishes.
Thanks for any advice. IMG_0072.jpeg

It will really show off your pool for sure! I love contrasting colors.

One word of caution about black plaster. You installers have to be TOP SHELF to pull it off. The darker the plaster the more the fact it is hand done shows with mottling and trowel marks. Have you see their work with dark plaster yet?

When haven't done our pool renovation yet but this:
is what my wife has picked to model our look after.

Basically dark as possible paster, white tile, dark coping. I think it's a nice look. Not that what I think matters.

From what I've read though, the darker you go with the plaster the more difficult the plastering process becomes. I would be really picky about my plasterer going for this. Part of the reason we haven't done our pool renovation yet.

If you end up going this route I would be really interested to see your project.

Mottling and fading is common with dark pebble/plaster surfaces. Search above using terms "dark" and "mottling". Dark bottoms also make it difficult to see underwater at any type of an angle. I have a dark surface and although I like the look of the water, I don't think I would do it again.

I would however do light colored waterline tile. I think it would do a good job of covering up evaporative haze and waterline ring.
