I have small white translucide spots floating at the surface of the pool. Any idea what it could be ?
FYI I've just opened it, i have added some chlorine, some soda wash and some CYA stabilizer (still in progress).

So two reasons I jump here . ! lived in Central Jersey (Freehold) for 12 years. And enjoyed the shore.

I am not a TFP guide BUT, looking at your photo , a couple things jump out. Green and Green.

What test kit do your used to test your water with and post those results so others can guide you.

And I believe an OCLT test would be the next step in your future.

+1. Have you added chlorine ? Those look like the scuzzy bubbles I got upon starting my SLAM when a 70 degree winter gifted me a swamp.

Below my tests. I am not losing much chlorine in 24 hours. The CYA is an estimation at 30 i can still barely see the dark spot.

So as I've read on other post; follow the the slam process to the letter. And its a much SLOWER PROCESS with a sand filter. Also, Backwash the filter and monitor the psi closely, when it increases 20% or more, backwash again. Some PO use small amount of DE
( if its available to you) on top of the sand to help with filtering. Patience is also key player here, hang in there.
CYA is subjective could be 30 or 40 depending on your technique. Good luck.

Keep it @16ppm as often as you can
Be sure to cover all the bases
👇
For a successful SLAM Process
you need to continue to MAINTAIN Slam level fc for your cya as often as possible (multiple times per day is best) until you meet ALL 3 end of slam criteria-

You are done when:

CC is 0.5 or lower;
You pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND
the water is clear.
(Crystal Clear w/no algae dead or alive)

*Check & scrub every nook & cranny where algae may hide (light niches, steps, drain covers, ladder handrails, skimmer throats/weirs, etc.)
*Run slam level water through all water features & lines for at least a couple hours a day during the SLAM Process.
*Brush & or vac daily (this breaks up biofilms that algae uses to protect itself from chlorine)
*Backwash/clean filter when pressure rises 25%over clean pressure.

SLAM ON 👍🏻
