White powder in pool

What about doing a OCLT? Also it's a vinyl pool should the FC be more like 7? 5% of CYA if it's 140 SWG and like 14 if no SWG I am learning the ropes also..

That is dead algae on the bottom of the pool...

With a CYA of 100 did you do an extended test... use 1 cup tap water and 1 cup pool water, mix and do the CYA test again using this mix... double the result to see what the CYA level is...
Thanks. Results were actually worse. Lost the black dot around 70 so I'm looking at 140. Also, should I turn on my pump and brush the algea so it can be removed by the filter?

Algae is not a filtering issue. It is a chemistry issue. To eliminate the algae, you need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need to drain/exchange about 70% of your water volume

Draining now. Question (I'm sure I'll have many more). How will I get rid of the dead algea when I'm done? Will the SLAM method do that for me?

The dead algae will be filtered out when you send it to your DE filter. Brushing and vacuuming the pool each day will rid it of the dead algae.

Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Amazon, eBay, are sources for CYA.

You may or may not need it. Run the tests and you can see what items you need. You for sure will need chlorine.

The CYA is high. But manageable.
You should vac up any debris.
So here is the latest. I'm giving you as much info as I can. I have a picture of my latest FC Test, a picture of the test kit, a picture of the leaves that constantly drive me crazy, and a picture of the trees that they come from. I put a solar cover on the pool, mostly to keep the leaves out. I use 7.1% Clorox for chlorine, and usually baking soda to raise the TA. I just vacummed so there is no visable dead algea. I backwashed and refilled my DE filter last week, so it's running good. I've had it on a lot lately. I did not do the OCLT yet. I'm assuming my TA and CYA are relatively the same. Let me know how much chlorine you think I should add. I'm sure I missed something. Let me know what you think. Thanks again for all your help it's greatly appreciated.
