Hey! So I’m trying to flock our pool and recirculate the water but the whirlpool setting on the filter isn’t working. The filter setting works fine and water is comes out of the return, we’ve backwashed/rinsed multiple times so that’s working fine but for some reason when we put it on whirlpool the water stops coming out of the return. Very confused what’s going on given everything else is working. Any help would be appreciated

I am not sure what a 'whirlpool' setting on I assume sand filter is. Can you post a picture or explain a bit more?
Also, floc is not recommended to be used. We suggest following the SLAM Process

The whirlpool setting is the same as recirculate. Really confused why this is the only setting not working. Also yes it is a sand filter. Pool water is balanced but our filter originally didn’t have enough sand, and there is a lot of dead algae and dirt particles - our reasoning for flock. Is this not a good idea?

It is not a good idea.
Floc
FLOC is a product often pushed by pool stores that rarely works as advertised. It causes large particles in the water to clump up and fall to the bottom where they must be vacuumed to waste and not allowed to go into the filter system. Many people struggle to remove this product from their pools so best leave it at the store entirely.
