Which way to point my returns. Trying to create that good flow towards the skimmers. My arrows right? Newbie any suggestions welcome. (See pic)

Jake,

Whoever built your pool didn't do you any favors did they??

I don't think that you can do better than you have in the pic.

The basic idea being to make the water in the pool, swirl like a giant flushing toilet bowl, but obviously at a much slower rate.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you Jim. Yea it would’ve been nicer if he gave me that fourth return. So you think all counter clockwise like that with the one in the deep end pointing towards the skimmer is best? I saw someone mention point all 3 towards the skimmer end? Any thoughts on which ones might be best to point down and which ones point towards the surface?

Jake,

I am not sure there is only one way to do this, but what works best for me, is to have them pointed to make the surface water swirl.

I point my eyeballs so that they just cause a slight ripple on the surface of the water. None of mine are pointed down.

Having two skimmers on the same wall is also no ideal.

Do your skimmers have operating weir doors?? Some pool builder leave them out.. Sigh!!

If you have a VS pump, then the key to skimming is patience. If you have just one leaf in your pool it will look like it is never going to get into the skimmer. Go inside for half an hour and then come back out the the leaf will be gone.

Thanks,

Jim R.
