We just bought this house late last summer, and only used the pool for a few weeks before closing it. I didn't make a note of which direction my eyeball should be pointed in. I previously have had round pools, and I just pointed them away from the skimmer box to create a circulation. On this pool, the skimmer box is on one of the "short" ends, and so pointing the eyeball away from the skimmer box appears to just push the water down the far end, and it doesn't seem to be coming back. I have leaves and other surface junk that just gets hung up down the other end. Any ideas?

Point the eyeball upwards a bit more toward the surface. Try a smaller eyeball opening for more pressure. Are you having to fight the wind with it?
Actually yes - the eyeball points in the same direction as what feels like a constant wind. And the leaves/pollen/etc stays down on the far end. Hmm...
