When to add Calcium to new pool?

Assumption is not reality. Do not rely on the robot.

Test your FC 30 minutes after adding.

Just so I'm understanding the process and sometimes its challenging if to follow things literarily or make common sense assumptions (which sometimes isn't always correct).

Is it exactly 30 min after adding when the measurement should be taken or at least 30 min must past to give enough time to mix in?

30 minutes is enough for the chlorine to mix with the water. 15 minutes is probably ok.

Wait too long before checking and some chlorine can be consumed so you don’t get an accurate picture of your effect of adding.

Let’s say 30 minutes +/- 10 minutes. That work for you?

OK, I was of the assumption taking measurements was point in time to see stabilization levels vs. 30 min check and then by end of day it's something completely different. I didn't realize this was something that required this frequency of testing unless this exercise is to check how fast it is being consumed/burn off which then makes sense.

I'll go check now.

You have many variables in play that can affect the accuracy of what PoolMath is predicting.

Is your pool volume accurate?

What % strength is your liquid chlorine really?

Is your volume measurement of what you are adding accurate?

Only by testing after you add chemicals can you calibrate PoolMath predicted versus actual and make any adjustments. You especially want to confirm your FC is not less than expected.

All you needed to retest was your FC. Although we see you picked up another 10ppm of CYA.

You only need to retest the chemicals you affected with your addition.

Why have you not lowered your pH?

Remember I had the socks of CYA in last night.

Also, I did add the MA that was recommended this morning. I guess it is asking for more now

Yup.

If you are not getting the results you expect then test after adding the chemical. See what pH your MA addition lowered your pH to.
