I've been shocking the pool with Cal Hypo for 2 days. I'm in Hawaii, and they don't sell liquid chlorine here. The cal hypo is more cost effective than bleach (when purchased in bulk), and easier to get a hold of right now during COVID. However, now that the chlorine levels are high, I shouldn't need as much bleach. Plus the water is SO cloudy, I would like to switch so it can start clearing up. I added cal hypo this morning before work. Will it be safe to add bleach this evening at sunset, or will it potentially cause a dangerous mixture? I know you have to be very careful about mixing chemicals, so I want to make sure.
When is it safe to switch from Cal Hypo to bleach?

Safe. Adequately mixing in the pool water is all you need to do. Waiting 30 min between adding each chemical with the pump running is safe.
