When away...

10% from home depot or lowes. And they are stored inside to avoid the sun and are less than 3months old.
I am also trying to get my TA lower I am at 180 and pH is high as well.
Sorry two issues simultaneously

Something is not right... if you have 15,000 gallon pool and you are putting in over a gallon a day.. that would take your FC from 5 to 12 daily... Did not think about this, what strength are you using :)

if you are getting 10% are you raising your FC to 12 daily and letting it drift down?? what was your FC when you checked it yesterday? and what is your FC right now?

I have not checked daily my FC, that is my fault. And I just measured and you are 100% the FC is too high, it's at 21.
So would the following potentially work:
Day 1: raise FC to 20, add 4 pucks
Day 8: add 4gal and 4pucks
Day 15: add 4gal and 4pucks
Day 22: measure FC and adjust with liquid chlorine

Thoughts

I would do 2 gallons and 4 pucks... 4 gallons would just waste most of it the next day when it burned off and you would be left with 2 gallons anyway... :)

Ok so I'll do the following:
Day 1: raise FC to 20, add 4 pucks
Day 8: add 2gal and 4pucks
Day 15: add 2gal and 4pucks
Day 22: measure FC and adjust with liquid chlorine

I will give my friend the FC tester to measure once a week. I'll update this thread when I have some update from my friend :)

Thank you all for your input.
Thanks

Yes, while we haven't had one recently, the haboob is a think in AZ and it will most likely pick it up.

I've had solar covers for 28 years, and they've survived a few east coast hurricanes, but I suppose anything can happen!
I prefer to keep the cover on rather than roll it up, as it greatly decreases the debris (and patio furniture!) in the pool.

In case it helps others, I returned from my trip, and with the SWG and cover, the pool did quite well.

What I did...

Covered with Blue Solar cover (this does not heat the water as much as a clear bubble cover) and ran as follows:
  1. disabled high speed intervals but left main pump/SWG schedule as normal
  2. As I left I bumped the SWG to 90%
  3. Daily, I logged in through Pentair's ScreenLogic app on my phone
  4. Day 4 dropped SWG back to normal 60% (using screenlogic)
  5. Day 5 the pool reached 90F and I started to get concerned, but then we had a little rain here and there and the pool went back to mid-80s (also had a neighbor check the water level in the skimmer)
  6. When I returned (Day 9), tested the water and everything was fine except CYA (due to 2.5" of rain on the day I returned) which had diluted down a bit with the water rise.
  7. BTW - FC was 7.5 and CC was less than .5 (slightest pink hue)
Thanks for the input!

Hope this helps others with SWGs.

I think the solar cover questions that I missed were answered. Don't think I would be using one if I was leaving a pool in PHX for a week+. Probably would have a schedule to run a water feature to cool it off during night.
