X2 it will make you pool temp so much better. If I didn't have one, my temp would be ~75F right now even with the solar heating I have (and probably 70 without heating). I am at 81F this morning.GreatCanadian said:Cover before Rover!

This is ridiculous!! Fourth of July is tomorrow and it's 77 with solar cover!!

Between 84 deg am and 87 deg pm, solar is set to 85 deg but on the hot days it gets above that.

Any sort of solid cover will help, even a cheap poly tarp. What you are trying to do is reduce the evaporation off the surface. That is the main driving element to pool heat loss.
My cover looks like the manufacturer bought up a bunch of black/blue poly tarps and cut/hem to circular shape.
Laid directly on the water -- darned thing floats if give the chance -- reduces heat loss to a minimum.
Before I started using it, heat loss closely followed ambient at night. With it, I'm losing only a few degrees.

75 when i last checked an hour ago in chicago and i just filled it up a couple days ago. went for our first swim ever in it today and the water temp was 71. a bit chilly at first but as long as you kept moving it wasnt bad. tomorrow will be sunny and 84 so it should be better, i need to get some sunscreen though. it was cloudy and 80 today.

Between 82 and 86 since the constant rains finally stopped. Had enough warm weather and sun that I have left the solar cover off but I may start putting it back on at night seeing it looks to be in the 60's the next few nights. Or maybe cover it during the day and leave off after the evening swim so I don't lose much water to the sun....decisions decisions. lol.
Pools 86 and havent covered or turned on the heater once yet this season. About 3 weeks worth of 90+ degree days will do that
94 degrees - We were away for the holiday, left cover on and returned to 94.1 degrees last night at 10:00pm...a little too warm for us!
I have 2 thermometers, so I am not sure the true temperature (you know, like that saying about a man with 2 watches). It is somewhere between 94 and 96. I've had my DIY solar hear on, along with my solar cover.
91° after a low of 79° last week during all the rain and record low temps.

Let me say the inventor of solar covers is my hero! My water went in on a Friday direct from my well and was 62 degrees!! One week later it was 84, and now is 90!
pool was 95 yesterday. to hot so i left the cover off last night and its about 91, much better. on the plus side we got our first night swim in. the 95 degree water was fine for then.
