What's your current pool temp?

I'm jealous. Even with our solar turned on, our pool isn't getting much above 72-74F right now. Our average day/night temps of around 55F simply haven't warmed up enough and the sun isn't that high in the sky yet. Next month (April) between the higher temps and the higher sun, we may get close to 80F at which point we'll fire up the gas and start using the pool (it's used as a therapy pool, so is kept at a warm 88F usually).

The max so far this year was 68.5*. Cool nights and below average daytime temps are taking their toll. :(

Same here. My water temp should be in the high 60s, low 70s by now. It's in mid 50's and just coming up from last week's snow  , daytime temps low 40's  , couple nights freezing.

Yesterday was the first day it didn't send me into shock putting my arms in the pool.

With the solar running yesterday water temp went from 62 to 75. Hopefully it will get to low 80s this evening and then I may just have to go for a quick dip

Started the heat pump yesterday - it was 75 this a.m. I'm hopeful it will reach 80 for the dozen 12-13 year olds that are coming this evening for a sleepover.

I may check myself into a hotel tonite :hammer:... either that or an asylum.

Wow, that's a huge gain. I've only been running mine about 2 hours a day.
Yes, I was also impressed however the system ran for about 10hrs. I suspect the temp will be in the low 80s this afternoon.

That is a huge gain.

I see you have 192 sq ft of panels.
Is that 6 4x8 panels?

Dave I have 3 - 4 x 12 panels and 2 - 2 x 8 panels. Max temp yesterday evening was 81deg. The high was 82deg. I am not sure how much more temp increase I will get as I am new to this.

Interesting set up- when you got that rise was it off the roof alone, or was that in conjunction with your heat pump?

With so relatively few panels (but a relatively small amount of water as well) and a full 1.5 HP pump that water must really be moving through those panels. My understanding is that for the most part faster is much more efficient than slower- so you are probably getting every last ounce of heat out of those babies.

I wonder what the panels like pressure wise - I know 4gpm seems to be optimum for most sizes and you are certainly moving that!

I believe that the optium for my panels calls for 5 with a min of 3 and a max of 10. They call these panels an advanced Hybrid Solar Pool Heating Technology. My pool temp last nite at 6pm was 85deg. Look at my install in the sig bar.

Dave I have not used my heat pump yet. The installer told me that he would guarantee me 82 degree from March thru Nov/Dec. I think I will get better than that, possibly 88degree, at least I hope to
