What Size DE filter should I get?

I need a new DE filter.

I have an inground pool somewhere around 13,000 gallons. Have an Intelliflo VF pump. Currently have a Pentair FNS Plus 36 that needs replacing. Stripped drain threads. Should I get a 48 sq foot DE?

Bigger is always better on a filter.

Have you considered replacing the stripped out plug with a bulkhead fitting and a new drain plug?

It's basically a hollow bolt with a couple gaskets and a nut to compress it all. Then you screw a new drain plug into the female threads of the hollow bolt.
