Getting ready to close my pool and I felt like I left my FC around 10ppm last year. My CYA is always around 30 and just confirmed last night that it was still around 30. When I opened the pool this last Spring, it was in good shape so I assume the 10ppm was a good starting point last year. I just wanted to confirm with the experts and if there is a better way to calculate what it should be before the pool builder comes to close it.
What should FC be at closing time?

Impossible to say whether 10ppm would be enough. Depends on water temp when closing and opening, etc. Have you reviewed the article in Pool School?

I would say it depends on your CYA level. Take it up to SLAM level based on your pool's CYA level --> [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA] Do that a couple of days before you finish closing and then let it drop on its own.
