I fixed a couple of leaks and now have to fill the hole in. One of the pipes is a little closer to the top of the soil than I would like (14"). I am wondering if there is anything I can use to fill in that would be a better insulator since we get freezes once or twice a year.
I would also like to know if I should pack some sand or light gravel around the pipes to lock them in place. When I dug it out, they had done a repair there already and there were a bunch of big chunks of concrete and old PVC pipe in there. Is it better to fill it with some good gravel, sand or top soil or something.
