What items to add to Easytouch 8 for Android automation

Nate,

First... It matters not what the automation can do, if your plumbers do not build the pool/spa so that is can do what you want!!!

Waterfall # 1 would use the valve A driver connection. (The plumbers would have to build it with its own Jandy valve.)
Waterfall # 2 would use the valve B driver connection. (The plumbers would have to build it with its own Jandy valve.)

Waterfall #3 at Spa.. Is this the Spa Spillover???? Is so, nothing needed...

Pool Lights.. For each light, or group of lights, that you want to independently turn on and off and change the colors, you would need an Aux Relay and a transformer. If we assume they will all be on at the same time and the same color, then you only need one Aux relay and one transformer.

Landscape lights #1 Will use one Aux relay
Landscape lights #2 Will use one Aux relay

Pool Filtration.. Will use the Pump/Filter relay.. Even though this relay is not physically used with a VS pump, it can't be used for anything else
Spa Filtration.. Will use the same Pump/Filter relay as above..
Both can be scheduled to run once or many times a day..

Spa operation with Jets and blower.. The blower will use one Aux relay.. You will need to use a remote or key pad at the spa itself.

Suction/Return valves.. Called the Intake and Return valves.. These two valves switch between the Pool mode and Spa mode Both of these valves must be Jandy style 3-way valves, with actuators.. The automation has a driver for each valve..

Since you will have an automation system, you do not 'need' the make up valve plumbing.. The system will use the Intake valve and Return valve to suck water from the Pool and return it all to the Spa, causing the spillover.. You can schedule it to run a few times a day to keep your spa water fresh.

Aeration Sprayer.. I assume this would be just a sprinkler valve that the automation would control.. This would require an Aux relay.

By my count your list would use up 5 Aux relays plus the Pump/Filter relay.. A total of 6 relays. Your ET-8 has 8 relays, the IC upgrade can control 10 relays.

By my count you will need 4 automated valves.. Intake, Return, A and B.. Both the ET and the IC come standard with these 4 valve drivers.

I assume this pool will be in AZ.. If so the pool/spa will stay open 24/7/365.. You will not be able to shut off the Pool in the winter. You don't have to use it or heat it, but it still needs to be run... At least most people in AZ do not close their pools in the winter

Please let me know what questions you have..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have a pool with one pump, no water features but it does have a spa level with the pool. Two automated valves do it all. In spa mode the pool is valved off completely so the filter and heater keep recycling the same water but while in pool mode the spa return valve is ever so slightly letting water past it so there's always a slight water mixing going on as the spa water overflows ever so gently into the pool it's hard to see it but it's there. This pool is on Jandy automation but very simple.

Can this be explained a bit deeper, Ty
WF,

The Jets should just work if you are in the spa mode, unless you have a separate Jet pump, which would take an additional Aux relay.

The Blower needs an Aux relay to turn on and off..

I guess my point about needing a remote was geared toward what the OP would need to use those features while at the Spa.

Not sure that answered your question or not???

Thanks,

Jim R.

If the OP has the IntelliCenter upgrade and able to the phone app then controls can be done via that method and no need for a spa remote.

H,

I should have been more clear.. I did not mean the OP would have to buy a Pentair remote, I meant that some kind of remote device would be needed while at the spa.. A spa side remote, a phone, tablet, or even an actual Pentair remote.

Thanks,

Jim R.
