What is UPS doing???

So I have a camera system around my house, and the one at my front door has captured UPS using some kind of device when they deliver packages.

The driver walks up, sets the package down, then holds whatever the device is against my security door for a second, then walks away.

Anyone eles know or have seen this device being used at their property? What is it??

Looks like one of the new DIADs that has a camera. Any chance he’s taking a picture of the package where he left it as proof of delivery?

No, I’ve seen those before. Amazon uses those quite a bit.

The package is on the ground in the corner behind him. He just sets it down, holds that thing against the door, and walks away.

i'll have to ask our driver today. he is on my block literally everyday for someones house.

I figure it has something to do with that, but he could easily just touch a button on his scanner when drops the package off.
He literally holds it against the door for like a second.

Maybe the metal door acts like an antenna to improve reception if they weren't getting a signal.

And while we’re talking about UPS weird things. This guy (you can tell he’s a seasonal hire by the vest) knocks on the screen ever so lightly, (which I appreciate the thought) but the friggen doorbell is lit up a foot away??

Maybe, but I would think that UPS technology would be a little more advanced, then having to use “rabbit ears” to track packages.

Maybe the device emits a chemical spray that marks the territory. Other delivery people will smell the spray and know to stay away.
