What is rule for making other adjustments while slamming?

ph test is unreliable when FC is over 10.

Just check FC during the SLAM Process. Everything else can wait.

Currently TA =50 and pH is high. I also have a CH=100. I have not added anything at this point while slamming. Just wondering if I can or should attack more than one thing at once. Thanks.
  • The high chlorine during SLAM reacts or invalidates the other reagents
    • Phenol Red (PH reagent) reacts with high FC, causing a "false" high PH reading
      • it is not safe to "treat" (aka lower) PH when a FC reading over 10
      • ......so if you are in SLAM with a PH reading of 6.8, that's concerning, anything between 7.2-8.2 is "expected"/normal
        • if you get a PH 6.8 reading during SLAM, allow the FC to lower under 10, retest PH & TA, before continuing SLAM
    • Several of the other dyes will be bleached out by high FC, causing invalid readings
