I am remodeling my pool. The PB floated travertine tile over the existing pool deck which was exposed aggregate concrete.

these two were grouted a few days apart

The grout did not come out what I selected. The grout is suppose to match the grout on the coping which is “bone”.

The PB has the bag from the grout batch. And the confirmed with the supplier. That what came from the supplier and what was laid is “bone”.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
Can someone shed some light on this please.

the PB said he will fix it but I don’t see how unless he demos this job and starts over fresh. I really just want my deck done right

The grout that has been there may have looked a lot lighter when it was new. The one place where it looks like three different colors might be due to moisture???? The only way the new grout will match the old grout is to replace BOTH of them :(

Grout is funny like that, that’s why I always try to grout everything in the same batch on the same day when I do tile work. Just by adding more water to the same grout color, it can change the color at times it seems. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If these travertine pavers were installed over concrete then most likely that looks like mortar, not grout. You have to use an angle grinder with a ceramic disk and clean all those lines with cement before grouting.

they did, but even in the small holes the travertine has its filled with the same color grout. The mortar is a lot darker. There is on spot it came through. They mixed the wrong grout or did something wrong.

I did not pay for high dollar for this. They will fix it or rip it up and do it right.

It’s one of those thing that when it was being pick up from supplier it should have been caught, when was mixed it should have been caught, as it was being applied, it should have been caught.
I’m going to be reasonable and try an let the PB fix the mistake
