What is everyone's occupation/profession?

I'm a critical care transport Registered Nurse, I transport people in an ambulance in-between different hospitals when their level of care requires a nurse. Probably about 60-70% are patients having a heart attack, but transport many patients on ventilators and other equipment too.

My wife, also an RN, and I purchased a new home in February with a pool. We've been loving it. We've had unseasonably cold & wet weather lately, but it looks like summer-like weather is finally here. Pool was 76 yesterday.

Many of us responded to an identical thread last season but I think these are fun so I'll chime in again and encourage everyone else to do the same.

I am essentially "retired" from Meg and I owning a business for 25+ years.

Secondly, I am a former military pilot so an aircraft management company employs me part-time (5-6 days a month) to fly small charter aircraft (King Airs, Citation jets, etc).

Third, Meg and I sell the test kits that are often mentioned here on the forum. That started four years ago and has grown (Thanks to y'all) to keeping us both fairly busy in the summer months.

Retired naval flight officer now serving as the stay-at-home dad. I really ought to find a part-time job as the kids have gotten older but ......

I went home for lunch and vacuumed the pool

I wish my building was close enough to home where I had enough time to get in the pool. I spend the majority of my lunch driving, but I would rather that than stay at work :) Plus doggie likes to go out :thequeen: she's spoiled.

I go home just to get away from the crazies here at the office!!! I don't like eating at my desk. I need to get away mid day.

During the day I'm an Accountant/Controller for a corporation that manufactures heavy equipment for coal mining. My husband and I also own an electronic security company. We sell, install, and monitor commercial and residential burglar/fire alarms, access control equipment, CCTV, environmental alarms, etc. I work in our own office every evening and on weekends.

You're my new hero TAZ. "Stay at home Dad!!!" That's exactly what I want to be when I hang up the flight gear for good, a stay at home dad DAD (Do Anything Dude) for our 3 little girls.

My bride wanted to go back to work (engineer) so we swapped. She now works for the Navy - go figure.

Fly safe. -- Taz

My current occupation is Retired.

I served 40 years in the Fire Service. After my military service I returned to my hometown, Dearborn Heights, MI and joined the Fire Department. Several years later I moved and took a job with the Northbrook, IL Fire Department. I served there for 24 years, as Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, District Chief, and Deputy Chief. Then I retired (the first time) and moved to Austin, TX. Within a year or so I was bored and took a job as Fire Chief in Hingham, MA, about 20 mi. south of Boston on the coast. Nine more years there and decided it was time to try that retirement thing again. Built a new home in sunny Tucson with a nice 16 x 36 pool and spa and here I am.

My wonderful wife has always worked in public schools running computer labs. First in Northbrook, IL then Austin and finally Hingham MA.

I'm in the IT field, and have been for decades ( ): Too long for my sanity anyway! :blah:
My title is "Architect", but I'm a Unix SA, Database Administrator, Storage Engineer, Network Engeer, and overall systems designer.
My MUCH better-half is a very under-paid teacher (yep, same as others)!. She's enjoying the summer vacation, limited as it is!

If not at work or driving to/from work,I'm at the beach!! :whoot:

Hey speaking of which, the cabana girl serving the free drinks over there in the VIP lounge has been a little slow on the refills! I was waving my glass in the air for a good 15 seconds!

I was for several years a Senior Hardware Specialist for a small telecommunications medical company where I built systems that ranged from +100k to a cool million. Got laid off lol (********), Did the whole computer repair stuff for awhile, and eventually got hired by the family to help run their hotel and pool.
