What is a "Hybrid Mineral Based" chlorination system? Are they any good?

I have a friend who's looking into a new aboveground pool and the company is trying to sell them on a Hybrid mineral based chlorination system. I currently use a salt system and love it, but had never heard of this mineral based system. Are they any good? Are there any advantages to them over a salt system? Thanks!

Adds metals (copper, silver, etc) to your pool. You still need chlorine for sanitation. The metals do inhibit algae, but so does the chlorine you still need. The metal will build up and turn blonde hair green and stain the pool. The replacement 'mineral' cartridges are also quite expensive.

Convince them to use a SWCG.
