I am a new convert to the TFP methodology. And in converting i have done a ton of work on the plumbing and learned a alot along the way. But i cannot for the life of me figure out what this valve does! I have a 23k gallon pool/spa combo. Air blower. Polaris 360 cleaner (therefore no booster pump) A Pentair heater. Single speed whisper flo pump. Hayward cartridge filter.
1.) Spa makeup valve
2.) Cleaner
3.) Return
4.) Suction
5.) no idea!!!!!!!!!
6.) Main Drain/Skimmer suction
7.) Spa Spillover check valve

Also, if anyone knows what the thin PVC is that is coming up out of the ground in front of the filter, i would love to know.

Sorry if i didn’t include enough info, please let me know and i will update post as much as possible.

Pat,

I suspect that valve 5 either sends water out the bottom of the valve and back to your wall returns. Or you can also set the valve to send water to the main drain as well. You'd also have to set valve #6 so that the main drain (suction) was off. The whole idea being you could send heated water to the main drain.

My personal opinion is that the idea of "deep heat" is more marketing than it is of any real value... In the big picture, I doubt it makes much difference.

Thanks,

Jim R.
